Creativity is the Supreme being working through us

One of the most profound findings that I personally found in my journey in spirituality is that when I successfully managed to silence my mind and accept each moment for what it is, the most unexpected thing happened. I autonomously started to become creative! Without any effort or thought put into it.
Ideas and creative concepts were flooding my mind out of a state of no thought. How is this possible you might ask? I have no way of explaining it. I can only describe it. Whenever my mind is completely still and I am in acceptance of the moment that I am in (which took me roughly 2 years of practice on a daily basis for this "habit" to become consistent), I would find ideas rushing into my head of topics that I never even thought about before (I found it scary at first, but started to accept that this was part of the MOMENT that I was in). After a while, I would start writing these down and look at it (without any judgement) and see what it was all about. These were the beginnings of the push for me to start this blog. To share these flow of ideas that were popping "effortlessly" into my mind.

And when I looked back at my previous life experiences, it started to slowly make sense. Whenever I was in a creative mood or working on an idea, whether it be at work or in school, I would become completely "lost" in that moment, in a state of non-egoistic thoughts, or what many other people refer to as the state of "Flow".

It dawned upon me that the Universe, God or the Supreme being is a creative force. It is in a constant state of creation. We are merely one of the many billions and trillions of countless creations of the Supreme, and yet WE ARE the creative force of the Supreme. Through us, the creativity of the Supreme is working to create through our human form. And it is not only through humans that the Supreme creates. If you take a look at Nature very closely, every animal, plant and even environment is in a constant state of creation and change. The world is never the same today as it was yesterday. Change is permanent because of the constant state of Creativity of the Supreme!

I thought I would share this with you and hope you might find that link between your Creativity and the Supreme.

The role of Silence in your spiritual journey

In the current world today, there is literally too much noise. Everywhere we go, there is noise pollution. Music, chatter, transportation vehicles and so on. And the noise doesn't only stop at the external level, but it is ever so present in our minds. Thoughts about the past, about the future, about other people, about work, about family about friends and these thoughts go on, and on, and on. All of these thoughts are actually the source of our suffering.

To quiet the mind is the only way to see and feel the true essence of yourself, which is the Supreme, God, Universal energy in human manifestation. And in doing so, we eliminate suffering. If there was a formula to spirituality (from my perspective), it would look something like this:

Silence (no thoughts or mind chatter) + Acceptance (truly accepting every moment for what it is without any judgements or mental labels) = Enlightenment (Bliss and joy)

A fairly simple formula. But everyone I shared this with says, "I can't stop thinking! What will happen to my life? What about all my obligations? My job? My family?". And I can only tell you that miracles will start happening, the first being pure bliss and joy. Once you stop mentally judging or labeling the people, or environment around you, you will start to see the world for what it truly is, which is something NOBODY can define, but can only feel through the present moment. And everything will happen effortlessly, including every life situation you are in. Once you let go of that control that you want to have in your mind, your life plays out in the most beautiful, effortless manner. It is in this state that we become aligned with the purpose of Universe, God, Supreme being or whatever you choose to call it.

And then some people ask me, " Well, how do you know then if your are truly present and enlightened?". For me there is only one indicator: You are in a constant state of  utter joy and peace. It is the most beautiful feeling you will have ever experienced. I cannot describe it in words. I can only help point in that direction. You will have to walk down that road and experience it yourself.

So, help yourself by quietening your mind. It is the ONLY way to a true joy and peace!

What is enlightenemnt?

I have had several friends and even family members ask me this question, "What is enlightenment? Why is it important to us?". Let me explain enlightenment from my perspective. To me, enlightenment is discovering your true essence and then living in fulfillment of it. Enlightenment cannot be thought, it can only be felt. It is not a destination, it is every moment. An enlightened person is simply one who understands his/her true essence as is completely at peace with it. It is really that simple. Imagine a world where everyone is at peace with themselves. This is how true world peace can arise. It is not through an external pursuit of policies and principles, but rather through internal love and acceptance of your essence.

Every single thing in this world, including all humans, animals, plants, objects, technologies, metals etc. are pure energy. We are all made up of essentially the same building blocks. We are only existing in different forms. The basic rule of Physics applies here in which Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only shift forms. If you take this into account, this simply means that if we are essentially energy forms, we can never be "destroyed" or "die". And we were never "created" or "born". When we cease to exist in the human form, which is what we commonly refer to as death, that is, when we die, we are not destroyed. We are simply transformed from one energy form into another energy form. In essence, you are timeless, ageless, and infinite. Each and everyone of us are. Every mother, child, man, woman, saint, criminal, from every race, ethnicity, from every corner of the world. We are all actually infinite beings of energy in human forms.

And there is a greater energy form than our human form which is influencing us in ways that is beyond our understanding and comprehension. You may call it God, the Universe, the Alpha and Omega, the Paramatman, or however you wish to call it. And everyone's purpose is to simply truly accept themselves in their essence, and allow God, energy or the Supreme being to flow into you and allow its purpose to unfold. You do not even have to resist it, it will happen so naturally and with such ease that it is effortless. Life then become effortless. There is no resistance, no judgments, no struggles, just pure inner bliss being in the state that you are.

The concept of Enlightenment is actually so simple. But people make it difficult because of existing belief systems. There is too much "mental noise" in the world for someone to get to a point of "mental silence". Becoming free of the current belief systems is the hard part. Why is it hard? Because it is habitual! You have been educated as a child to think excessively and you have been doing it for as long as you can remember. Once you are free of thinking, then you can start to see yourself for the true essence that you are, the endless power and beauty that is you, and allow the Supreme to move through you as you surrender to the Supreme. It is just pure bliss and ecstasy. Fears will dissolve, suffering will be removed and everything in your life will start to fall in place. You are able to accept any situation for what it is and act in the moment. You will start to emanate a different  vibrational frequency of energy, which will affect your surrounding and people around you. You can then even use thoughts carefully to carry out your Spiritual purpose.

Why is spirituality important? It is the end of suffering. It is the end of "rebirth". Rebirth is simply the cycle of thoughts. Anger, jealousy, worries, sadness are all generated by thoughts that are "born" in our thoughts and also "die" in our thoughts and this cycle is endless until you "die" of your human form and transform into another form of energy. How do you then make the most out of the wonderful human form that you are in right NOW? Find your essence. Find out for yourself that pure energy form that you are that is truly infinite and boundless. Once you find this, you can then allow life to flow through you. It will flow through you without thoughts or "efforts" you need to take by thinking. It will happen. There are many moments that all of you have already experienced which is like that. Think back on moments where you had so much of joy or had fun...were you thinking at that time? Or was it simply felt without thoughts or words? Or it could even be when you are so focused in doing something that you did not even realize the time passing by, it felt effortless. Your physical body may have felt tired but you actually felt deeply fulfilled inside. Now, can you imagine being like this on a daily basis in every waking moment? This is enlightenment.

The enlightened one can sit back and watch the universe or God unfold through them and around them without taking any efforts. The enlightened one becomes the observer and the observed. The enlightened one is free from the "rebirth" of thoughts and emotions. And once this happens, the world becomes different. The world becomes different only through the shift of your perception. This is enlightenment. There is then only one desire for the enlightened one: to simply exist as the instrument of the Supreme.

I hope this helps you on your Spiritual journey.

"Resentment is like you drinking poison and expecting your enemies to die." -Nelson Mandela

I could not find a better title for today's post than Nelson Mandela's quote on the power of forgiveness. Many people think that forgiveness is about the person you're forgiving. But it is actually all about YOU. When you do not forgive, you are giving the person that hurt you the opportunity to hurt you again and again and again every time you think about them or what they did. What a waste of your time, energy and focus!

Why should you give the person that hurt you this power over you? Why give anyone, for that matter, the power to take up your precious time and energy in order to hurt you all over again? Believe me, the person who is giving that power is you yourself. Can you see now the power of forgiving and forgetting? It releases you from the "mental torture" of repeated hurt. I believe that this is what Buddhists and Hindu's refer to as "rebirth". It is not necessarily the rebirth of your physical self but rather the rebirth of hurtful thoughts and behavioral patterns. Once you forgive and forget, you are in essence free from the "rebirth" of mental hurt and torture. You can then dedicate the necessary energy to overcoming the situation and moving forward in your life's journey.

And if it gives you any comfort, I'll share with you what I tell myself these days when someone does hurt me. I tell myself, "What goes around, comes around." I found this to be 100% true in my life. As the saying goes, "What you sow is what you reap". So whoever who did hurt you (with a bad intention) will pay their dues. Trust in God, the universe or however you define the Supreme, and let it take care of them. Believe me, everyone pays their dues for their actions, including you. So save your thoughts and energy for something better than anger, resentment or unforgiveness, it is completely unproductive for you! And trust me, you will see the benefits. In the end, I believe that one may lose possessions, money, and even time, but one cannot lose oneself.

Strategy for enlightenment

Many spiritual teaching point in the direction of meditation as a great daily practice to be spiritually enlightened, whether it is for 10 minutes or an hour, morning or evening. I disagree.

I think that every MOMENT should be a meditative practice. How can one do that? It is quite simple.
Be completely present, aware and focused in the present moment. Just give every moment your full focus. From the moment you get up to the moment you sleep. If you do that, you can choose not to think about the past (which actually does not exist any longer) or the future (which does not exist yet). What about planning for your future and goals, you might ask. You can definitely plan for the future, whether it be for work or for your private life. Just be focused in the moment of planning and execution of your future goals. Be fully present in the realization of it because it is the present moment that gives birth to the future. What about visualization you might ask. Isn’t visualization thinking about the future? Indeed it is. However, in visualization, you have to still be present in the moment your are visualizing it, giving your visualization your fullest focus and attention. And here’s the key for your inner peace: Once you have visualized your aims and goals, let it go. Do not be attached to the outcome or worry about it. Bring back your focus to the present moment and be there fully aware. Believe me, the universe will conspire towards your visualized goals and it will happen effortlessly. It happened to me on many occasions. And hope with this practice it will happen to you too. Do not be too concerned about when it will come true. It will happen when the time is right for you. Trust in the Universe, Life Force, God or whatever you want to call it. Just remember to be fully aware and present in every moment, even in visualizing your goals becoming true and not to be attached to the outcome. It works for me every time.

Can I give you examples of it you might ask? Sure. I dreamed of moving to Europe and living there without even knowing how or when (I am from Malaysia). Within 3 months, I met my then future husband (who is European), at a work conference, at a time which I least expected! We connected immediately and even shared the same spiritual concepts! We got married and 2 years after our marriage, we moved to Europe. I dreamed of having a beautiful home with a pair of children, a boy and a girl….and it gives me goose bumps to write to you that it indeed became true. I visualized getting a job in Switzerland and it became true! It took 1 year to happen, but when I look back, it happened at a time when it needed to happen, even when I was anxious about why it hadn’t happened to me. And the most interesting fact of it was that I got the call from the job agency literally 2 days after I had mentally given up on it happening any time soon. I told myself, “If it is meant to be, it will happen.” And I got the call for the interview two days later.
Please try it…it works for me, and I’m sure it will work for you. Your focus only need be in the present moment. No thoughts, no worries, no excess baggage of guilt, resentment, anger, jealousy and any of that pain that is born when your attention moves away from the present moment. Just pure peace, joy and love. I would like to conclude with a quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer, “Peace is the result of re-training your mind to process life as it is and not as it should be.”

It is the actions we take that defines us...

I would like to share a poem with you that inspired me...enjoy!

On this day

On This Day-
Mend a quarrel,
Search out a forgotten friend,
Dismiss a suspicion and replace it with trust,
Write a letter to someone who misses you,
Encourage a youth who has lost faith,
Keep a promise,
Forget an old grudge,
Examine your demands on others
and vow to reduce them,
Fight for a principle,
Express your gratitude,
Overcome an old fear,
Take two minutes to appreciate the beauty of nature,
Tell someone you love them.
Tell them again,
And again,
and again.
